Lunchtime Photography

Now that the weather’s nice again, I’ve been walking around taking pictures. As a general rule, I don’t like taking pictures of people. Except my kids – It’s always something new with those guys, so photographing them as they grow & learn is pretty amazing. I’m most interested in walking around and talking pictures of “stuff.” Details. Moments.

The weather has given me an opportunity to get outside during my lunch break and walk along a path thru the local forest preserve. I can snap dozens of pics after I finish my lunch. Sometimes I even end up with a couple interesting shots. I’m trying to cram this activity into my lunch breaks whenever I can, because it’s getting warmer and pretty soon the mosquitoes are gonna become an issue. I can’t be getting all sweaty and covered with mosquito bites when I still have half a day of work ahead of me. Further complicating the matter are the dress pants, dress shirt & tie, and dress shoes I’m wearing while I’m doing this. Oh sure, I could bring a pair of grubby shoes at least, but that would require forethought – not one of my strong suits.

Anyway, if time would allow, I’m sure I could spend a couple hours at a time plodding thru forest preserves with my camera, taking pictures of whatever looks interesting. But that would take me away from my kids, and there’s never enough of that. They aren’t quite old enough to join me on these brief adventures, but in time, I’m hoping to share this endeavor with them…when we’re not playing our guitars, that is. Hey, a father can be hopeful.
